A ribbon cutting took place at the park’s new terrace and amphitheater, which take over the space once occupied by shuffleboard courts. Near the center of the new meeting area, Jon Seeman’s sculpture “Breaching Whale” stands tall. The sculpture, once intended for outside the senior and community center, will receive a dedication ceremony of its own at a later date.In addition to the terraced meeting area, the project renovated Monument Point. Asphalt pathways were replaced with concrete and flagstone, workers constructed a new viewpoint, and drainage, irrigation and lighting systems were upgraded. In 2008, the city completed renovations at Rockpile and Picnic beaches.
